Partner at consultancy Oliver Wyman, Edwin Anderson, discusses how sustainability and risk are intertwined across industries. Finance, for example, he notes, cuts across so many sectors that it's had to recognize the risk climate change poses and react accordingly. Still, many industries face challenges to fully understanding climate risk — communication between sustainability experts and industry professionals can sometimes stand in the way if the groups don't speak the same language.
Still, there are major opportunities in improving responses to climate risks for companies, and Anderson is excited for more companies and industries to embrace the frameworks that allow us to address climate risk.
