Courtney Thompson, vice president of global sustainable finance at Morgan Stanley, says sustainability finance has taken off in recent years.
"I think it's mainstream, and I think the sources of data that are enabling smarter decisions around this are also bringing the conversation around sustainability to the forefront for many, many investors," Thompson says.
Both sustainability and finance are complex spaces in their own right, Thompson notes. "The real role of sustainable finance is to really translate between those two things," she says, before discussing the different types of bonds that have cropped up related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
