Mikel Hancock is the Senior Director, Food and Agriculture for Walmart Stores, Inc. In this role he is responsible for partnering with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement our Sustainability strategy within Food. Walmart’s Sustainability strategy is aligned with our mission to help our customers Save Money and Live Better by focusing on reducing costs in energy and waste, while providing access to products sourced sustainably. He has over twenty years with Walmart and has served in various positions across Merchandising and Sourcing within Walmart US and Sam’s Club. Mikel’s previous positions include buyer, senior buyer, and Director for Sam’s Club, US Global Food Sourcing manager, and most recently he has been a Divisional Merchandise Manager in the Produce & Floral department for Walmart US. While in this role, Mikel helped to lead the Sustainable commodities program for all of Produce, and under his leadership advanced our sourcing of more sustainable produce. He earned a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Finance from the Sam M. Walton College of Business Administration at the University of Arkansas. Mikel currently serves as Board Member for the Center for Growing Talent by the Produce Marketing Association and Cobblestone Farm Project, a non-profit dedicated to ending hunger in Northwest Arkansas. He resides in Bentonville, AR with his wife Lynn and two boys Dunning and Breck.
