Algramo
Brian started working at Algramo for a graduate level capstone project. Brian’s Capstone research, in a program of 350 students, won Harvard’s 2017 Dean’s Prize for Outstanding Capstone. Shortly after graduating with his Sustainability Master’s, Brian won Algramo Expo 2020 Dubai Global Innovator status so Algramo could develop its first generation of IoT connected vending machines. Next, Brian won Algramo Top Idea in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s $1 million Circular Design Challenge. This funding enabled Algramo to develop its first IoT connected vending machine for liquids and for Brian to lead Algramo in the New Plastics Economy yearlong accelerator program. Brian’s partnership development helped Algramo secure over US $600k in pro-bono consulting from Deloitte’s D2i Fellowship. This collaboration helped Algramo pivot into a new business model where Algramo is integrating its next-generation IoT connected distribution system, including packaging with a built in e-wallet, into the supply chains of Unilever, Nestle and soon many other global brands. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation believes at least 20% of single–use packaging can be replaced with reusable packaging systems-representing a US $10 billion opportunity. Brian is dedicated to applying systems thinking solutions and diverse partnerships to enable Algramo and its partners to catalyze reusable packaging systems on a globally significant scale. Brian has represented Algramo at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the European Commission’s Our Ocean conference in Malta, and most recently he spoke for Algramo, in Nairobi, at the United Nation’s Science Policy and Business Forum. Brian contributes to the Futures CoLab and MIT Center for Collective Intelligence to provide analysis to policy makers on how technology can be used to help address complex global sustainability challenges.
