VERGE Microgrid

Since 2013, VERGE events have utilized 100% renewably-powered microgrids to help power our live events. Each microgrid is built on-site using a combination of off-the-shelf components from startups and leading solution providers.

Tours will be available throughout the event to learn about the interoperability, resilience and radical efficiency of these technology solutions available today.

There will also be free on-site charging offered to the first twenty electric vehicles driven to the event by attendees.

VERGE Microgrid Components Include:

Ageto Renewable Controller

The Ageto Renewable Controller (ARC) bridges the gap between renewable and conventional power generation resources by coordinating and dispatching the various energy resources available in the microgrid to maximize renewable energy penetration while ensuring a stable and resilient power system.

Spotlight Solar Curve

Spotlight Solar makes aesthetic solar structures that are designed for high visibility. These solar "trees" complement other renewable energy projects and add brand value to the return on solar. The Verge microgrid features “Curve,” the smallest of Spotlight’s four structures. Curve is designed to engage your stakeholders with a demonstration of clean energy tech while providing shade, a place to plug in, lighting, and signage for communicating a larger story. Schneider Electric Excellerate Xcape Microgrid

The Excellerate Xcape Microgrid unit contains all of the control functionality and battery storage you would expect from a Microgrid. With inputs for solar PV and generator the unit can be grid connected or operate for extended periods of time in island mode depending on your specific needs and application. This factory built and tested unit is designed for quick deployment and installation and is powered by Schneider Electric and Faith Technologies.

Yotta SolarLEAF

Yotta's SolarLEAF™ is a modular energy storage device which seamlessly integrates behind each photovoltaic (PV) panel in a solar array greatly simplifying the development of solar microgrids. Engineered with smart thermal regulation technology, SolarLEAF™ safely enables a distributed and scalable format while maximizing the life and performance of the battery under extreme temperature conditions. Yotta’s software platform enables the aggregate system to address various needs for energy control and resiliency. MGM Resorts Mobile Blast Chiller

In order to allow for the safe transfer of unserved prepared food donations from multiple resorts, that have concurrent events, MGM partnered with Three Square and a local freezer van fabricator, Peravan, to develop a mobile blast chilling van. The Mobile Blast Chiller is the first of its kind and has the capacity to collect and safely cool down 1,800lbs–2,000lbs of hot food in one trip, with more than one property pick up. The intent of this innovative solution is to allow more food to be collected safely from our resorts.

Bloom Energy AlwaysON Microgrid

Bloom Energy’s mission is to make clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone in the world. The Bloom Energy Server delivers businesses highly reliable and resilient, ‘Always-On’ electric power that is clean and sustainable. Bloom’s brand new AlwaysON Microgrid offering enables businesses to protect themselves from planned or unplanned power disruptions. The AlwaysON Microgrid generates power 24x7, 365 days per year, and can be configured to eliminate the need for traditional backup power equipment.

DANNAR Mobile Power Station

The DANNAR Mobile Power Station ® (MPS) comes standard with three 42 kWh BMW i3 Li-Ion battery packs (126 kWh total), and can be upgraded with up to nine additional packs for a total of 504 kWh of on-board electricity. The DANNAR export panel is configurable with multiple 110VAC and 208VAC outlets; and it carries Type I, II and III hydraulic tool circuits. The DANNAR’s dual flat beds accommodate any manufacturer’s attachments and is submersible up to four feet of water. Solar charging stations can be integrated with the DANNAR to provide extended off-grid energy independence and energy resilience.

Chevrolet Bolt EV

The Bolt EV is a game-changing electric vehicle that starting with model year 2020 will take customers even farther by delivering 259 miles of range on a single charge and breaks the affordability barrier with a starting MSRP of $37,495 (before Federal/State tax credits).

All Power Labs Power Pallet 30 CHP

ALL Power Labs develops and manufactures small-scale, cogeneration equipment that transforms wood waste into electricity, heat, and biochar. Their Power Pallet 30 CHP will be supplying electricity to the VERGE Microgrid. These units serve as central hubs for the Local Carbon Network--a community powered carbon-drawdown initiative launched by All Power Labs to distribute the electricity, heat and biochar locally. Heat and electricity can be used on site or fed into a community micro-grid while the biochar is distributed to local farms/gardens where it is taken through a co-composting process and applied to regenerate soil health and increase biological sequestration of carbon. ClipperCreek HCS Charging Station

ClipperCreek’s HCS charging stations for plug-in vehicles come in a variety of power levels, as hardwired and plug-in units, and with multiple mounting options. HCS charging stations are universally compatible with all plug in vehicles and designed for reliable commercial use in all environments. ClipperCreek offers a variety of generic control interfaces to facilitate simple integration into existing facilities control and management systems or third party intelligent charging control systems.

Blue Planet Energy Blue Ion LX-HV

Blue Planet Energy developed the Blue Ion LX-HV commercial energy storage system for a new application class of microgrid, critical infrastructure, and business continuity projects that demand the safest and most reliable energy storage solution with the highest build quality. Backed by an industry-leading 15-year energy storage performance warranty, the LX-HV integrates with pre-tested and pre-configured power conversion equipment and site-level controls to ensure the compatibility and optimization of fielded power systems.
