Retail Sustainability Committee Meeting

Meeting Title: RILA & RCC Sustainability Committee Meeting

Location: Target Plaza Commons, Minneapolis MN

Date: Monday, June 17, 2019, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Dinner to follow

RILA is the US trade association for retailers that have earned leadership status by virtue of their sales, scale, innovation or aspiration. Our aim is bold but simple: to elevate a dynamic industry by transforming the environment in which retailers operate. To do so, we convene decision makers to collaborate and gain from each other’s experience. We advance the industry through public policy advocacy and education. And through benchmarking and thought leadership, we propel developments that foster both economic growth and sustainability.

During this invite-only event held in partnership with the Retail Council of Canada (RCC), we bring together our retail sustainability/CSR executives to provide committee updates, discuss leading practices and network.

Special Instructions: If you are interested in learning more about the RILA & RCC Sustainability Committee Meeting on June 17, 2019 please contact [email protected] for information on how you may be able to attend. Attendance is restricted to retail and product manufacturer companies and select RILA or RCC Strategic Partners and Sponsors.

SPC Engage: Minneapolis

Meeting Title: SPC Engage: Minneapolis

Location: Hyatt Regency, Minneapolis MN

Date: Monday, June 17, 2019, 8 AM – 5:30 PM

The Sustainable Packaging Coalition is a membership-based coalition that believes in the power of industry to make packaging more sustainable. By bringing together member & non-member brands and retailers for this one day event, the SPC will be setting the pace in packaging sustainability. SPC Engage is a brand new event that will enable brands and their supply chain partners to learn, share ideas, and develop strategies and takeaways to implement and execute new or existing sustainable packaging goals.

SPC Engage will help organizations understand how to align their goals with larger global sustainability commitments like the Sustainable Development Goals, G7 Plastics Charter and the New Plastics Economy, and provide key insights into goal setting and implementation unique to each brand. Some key themes of the event include: thinking through sustainability goals, the pitfalls, and the right questions to ask; measuring impacts; identifying best-in-class goals and their nuances; and exploring successful strategies that other companies have implemented in their own organizations.

This event is open to SPC members & non-members. Special discounts for SPC member registration.

Circularity Purchaser Guide Working Group Launch Meeting

Green Electronics Council

Meeting Title: Circularity Purchaser Guide Working Group Launch Meeting

Location: Lake Calhoun room at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center

Date: Monday, June 17, 2019, 2PM – 5PM

Institutional purchasers, especially public procurement representatives in the EU, are being tasked to support “circular economy” with their procurements. This is challenging because there is still significant confusion about what constitutes “circular economy” and how a large-scale institutional purchaser supports it.

Join the Green Electronics Council and US Chamber of Commerce Foundation as they launch a working group to develop a Purchaser Guide for Circularity focused on helping purchasers understand how their procurement decisions can help organizations shift to circularity.  This working group has the purpose of 1) helping define what circularity is from the context of procurement and 2) translating that definition into questions that can be used by purchasers and 3) developing an appendix that helps purchasers understand how “sustainable procurement”, “purchasing in support of Circularity” and “purchasing in support of the Sustainable Development Goals” align as well as differ from each other.

This working group meeting is open to all interested parties, along with individuals who have already joined the working group.
