Kevin Blaser leads the Economic Development Services Practice at Blue Stone Strategy Partners. Blue Stone exclusively assists Tribal Communities and provides a diverse set of consulting services. Prior to joining Blue Stone, Kevin was the Energy Buyer for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan and its wholly owned entity, Migizi Economic Development Company. Kevin was responsible for all aspects of wholesale energy procurement for the Tribe. He led the team efforts to create the first Tribal Electric Utility in the Midwest and join the MISO bulk power market. Sovereignty and low-cost wholesale energy are key drivers of the Tribe’s economic development strategy. In addition to creating innovative capital strategies for projects, Kevin was involved in several economic development efforts including starting SCIT’s 8(a) entity Bakinaw Federal Contracting, building its venture capital investment process, and working on early drafts of the Tribe’s cannabis ordinance. Kevin’s career has included founding a financial consulting firm and managing a $7 billion portfolio of fixed-income assets.
