Austin is a Principal at Earthshot Ventures, a $93MM early stage climate tech venture fund that spun out of the Elemental Excellerator. Earthshot invests in companies with the potential to disrupt energy, mobility, food, agriculture, industrial or carbon markets, while simultaneously making our economies more sustainable. Austin is a proud energy nerd with over a decade of climate tech experience, spanning startups, professional services and public sector roles. He spent over 3 years serving as the Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Boston, where he was the City's senior most energy regulator and also led the Parks and Recreation and Buildings departments. In addition to leading 400 employees and managing a $90MM annual budget, he was responsible for developing and implementing a climate action plan for the City. Austin also has extensive operator experience after multiple executive roles leading operations and project finance at clean energy startups. His career started as a management consultant, where he first caught the renewable energy bug and he hasn't looked back. He holds an MBA and Bachelors degree in Government with a minor in Economics from Harvard University.
