
Michael Terrell
Michael Terrell is a global leader and expert in corporate energy strategy and clean energy. He is currently the Global Head of Energy for Google and Board Chair of the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA).
For over a decade, Michael has helped Google become a world leader in energy efficiency and corporate climate action. He oversees the management of Google’s global energy portfolio and is responsible for market operations, energy policy and advocacy, and energy innovation initiatives. He has pioneered new approaches to Google’s procurement of nearly 6GW of renewable power, was the driving force behind Google’s groundbreaking 24/7 carbon-free energy vision, and has delivered landmark projects such as converting coal plants to data centers.
In 2013, Michael helped found the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA) and now serves as Board Chair. REBA has over 200 members and continues to drive towards democratizing clean energy for all energy buyers and creating a resilient, zero-carbon energy future.
Prior to joining Google, Michael held several roles in the Federal government, including the White House Council on Environmental Quality. He holds a law degree from the University of Michigan, a master's degree from Yale University’s Environment School, and a bachelor's degree from the University of the South. Michael has appeared in numerous media outlets and has served as a guest lecturer at Stanford University,
