Scott Breen is Associate Manager, Sustainability and Circular Economy Program with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Corporate Citizenship Center. Scott has two main responsibilities in this role (1) lead project manager of the Chamber Foundation's Beyond 34: Recycling and Recovery for a New Economy program to increase the U.S. recycling rate beyond its current 34 percent rate; (2) design and execute events, initiatives, reports, trainings, etc. so that corporate sustainability and circular economy professionals can achieve their priorities and share their best practices. In his free time, Scott is the creator and co-host of the Sustainability Defined podcast, which defines sustainability one concept (and one bad joke) at a time. Its monthly episodes receive thousands of downloads across all 50 states and more than 70 countries. He has interviewed leading sustainability experts on the show including Paul Hawken of Project Drawdown, Joel Makower of GreenBiz, and Kate Brandt of Google. Scott Breen started his career as an attorney-advisor at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). While at NOAA, Scott helped advise program staff as administrative rules went from public notice to final publication, brought enforcement actions against those that violated fisheries rules and regulations, and determined the legal sufficiency of agency actions such as the issuance of incidental harassment authorizations under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University. He also graduated in 2015 with a Juris Doctor, Master of Public Affairs, and a Social Entrepreneurship Certificate from Indiana University-Bloomington. He is a member of the Illinois Bar.
