
Ramé Hemstreet
Ramé Hemstreet is a key adviser to the senior vice president of facilities at Kaiser Permanente, one of America’s leading health care providers and not‐for‐profit health plans.
He is responsible for integrating and coordinating all components of service delivery for NFS, including its multibillion dollar capital acquisition program, maintenance, and clinical technology at more than 1,000 hospitals, medical offices and other buildings; as well as management of a 78‐million‐square foot real estate portfolio.
Hemstreet focuses on lifecycle facilities management, reducing total cost of ownership, utilizing diverse vendors and continuously improving the capabilities needed to successfully build and maintain the medical delivery infrastructure that provides health care to 11 million people.
As chief sustainable resources officer, he oversees Kaiser Permanente’s energy and water strategy, which focuses on reducing energy and water intensity and pursuing green power opportunities to reduce operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions. He collaborates with stakeholders throughout Kaiser Permanente to reduce energy intensity, utility costs, and the company’s carbon footprint.
Hemstreet joined Kaiser Permanente in 2011 after 29 years in the U.S. Navy, where his career culminated as commanding officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington D.C. leading a team of 70 officers and 1,500 civilians delivering $1.5 billion a year of facilities management and construction services to Navy and Marine Corps clients throughout the national capital region.
Hemstreet has broad facilities management experience, leading efforts to plan, build, and operate facilities and infrastructure around the world. He has extensive experience planning, negotiating, and implementing complicated projects in various circumstances and cultures, having managed programs in Japan, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and throughout the U.S.
Hemstreet holds a master’s of science degree in construction management from University of California, Berkeley; a master’s of science degree in national security strategy from the National War College; and a bachelor’s of science degree in civil engineering from Tulane University. He also completed the executive management program at the University of Virginia Darden Business School.
He is a professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a member of the Project Management Institute and the Association of Energy Engineers. He currently chairs the Construction Industry Institute’s Healthcare and Facilities Committee and is co‐chair of the Association for
Advancement of Medical Instrument’s Sustainability Committee.
