Abbas Akhil
Abbas Akhil is the Chief Technology Officer of HiVE Energy Systems. He served 23 years in the US DOE Energy Storage Program managed by Sandia National Labs, where he conducted foundational work defining the role and benefits of energy storage in the electric grid. This included early system studies with three mainland utilities and Alaska. He also performed the first energy storage study for Kauai in 2004 and subsequently planned the conversion of the Lanai grid to renewable energy through the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative. Mr. Akhil is the principal author of the Electricity Storage Handbook.
Mr. Akhil is a Licensed Professional Engineer and serves as a Board Member of the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers. He is a mentor of the Elemental Excelerator program in Hawaii for energy storage projects.
